NEW MUSIC BY JAHI OFFERS AN OCEANVIEW
Still representing the next generation of Public Enemy, Rapper/Lyricist Jahi continues to deliver the message and flow on his latest release, “Oceanview”. Out of the gate with a single and accompanying video is, “Here We Go Again", the first release from the artist’s 12th album on Microphone Mechanics/Spitdigital Recordings. Oceanview offers listeners the entrancing beats backing a potent, timely message on songs like “Here We Go Again”, another headbanger “Move the World”, as well as the DJ Edaboss (Stones Throw) produced track “Turn It Up”.
Expanding on his musical mission, the album offers a retrospective journey to the artist’s roots and highlights his inner reflections on life. Jahi states that “Sonically a lot smoother than PE 2.0 records, but still poignant messages over lush production. More mellow that turn up”. Notably, the video for the album’s song, “Here We Go Again,” was filmed at the Oakland Museum of California's Black Panther Exhibit, making Jahi the first Hip-Hop artist to do so, on the 50th Anniversary of the Black Panthers (https://youtu.be/Sxw1bjk8Yl4).
As frontman for the highly-praised PE 2.0 (created by Chuck D.), the Cleveland native joins members of the original Public Enemy including DJ Lord, Davy DMX, Professor Griff and Chuck D in revisiting the PE catalog along with introducing a fresh body of work. Whether re-flavoring classic Hip-Hop or reinventing it for some new generations, Jahi has consistently released cerebral stimulus with his mastery of flow and tone on songs like "People Get Ready" off PE 2.0's debut album, with iconic Chuck D joining him on the title track and on another entitled "Yo!".
Recent endeavors include the Russell Simmons & Nick Cannon Boost 1st Stop Of Van Jones' WE RISE TOUR Powered By #LoveArmy. There Jahi joined host Van Jones and company in closing out the event with a riveting performance—proudly displaying the “Public Enemy 2.0” logo that proves his intent on carrying the “cultural legacy” of PE and Chuck D. Upcoming performances include a September 23, 2017 date at UC Theater with the legendary Arrested Development. Oceanview is now available everywhere you purchase/stream music digitally—Tidal, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, I Tunes, etc.
